Introduction Diving for Young and Old

The Diving Centre  BARAKUDA CLUB TENERIFE , under the management of the state-approved diving instructor Heinz Scheffler and all the diving instructors has been located for more then     
                  

                         30  years

in Playa Paraiso, on the south west coast of Tenerife.

Playa Paraiso is a small urbanisation with 5 hotels  from 3 * - 5 * , as well as restaurants , bars, shops and an apartment complex in which you can also rent holiday apartments. Lying directly on the coast, behind a small beach in a pretty cliff-lined bay, is a large sea-water pool.  

The diving school is located at the entrance to the pool. This pool resort, called " Lago Paraiso" , is ideal for families and single persons . There is a restaurant, discreet animation, a volleyball court and a small children playground, all surrounded by palm trees and subtropical plants which all help to ensure you  have a relaxing holiday.

Diving excursions take place twice a day at 10 am and  3 pm. From the base you can reach the sea and 10 of the closely situated dive sites, from the 20 different diving areas we have to offer, with your equipment within about 2 minutes walk or 1 minute by minibus. Here, there are 3 large, rocky reefs of volcanic origin (17m to 30m deep) and a shallow bay (ideal for beginners - up to 15 m deep). You can reach the other diving areas by minibus which are usually 5 to 15 minutes away. Along the coast, after a maximum of 5 minutes snorkelling, you can dive in several reefs up to 35 m deep, or when the sea is calm, you can dive into small, shallow grottos.

All diving excursions (which on average last 45 to 65 minutes) are lead by diving instructors who know the areas well, in groups of a maximum of 5 or 6 divers of similar ability. You can observe a large variety of fauna in a varied underwater landscape which is formed of lava stone with overhangs, high rock faces, small caves, channels and adjoining sandbanks. The fauna includes natural sponges and large coloured sea anemones, various types of shrimps ,crabs, groupers ,moray eels, shoals of grunts, breams &damselfish , various types of  wrasses, rays, squids & octopus, turtles,  barracudas and many more. If you are lucky, you will see sand sharks, jacks, tunas,  lobsters or even a sea horse.

On the relatively few days of bad weather around the diving base, you are driven to diving areas at other sections of the coast (30 to 60 minutes drive). On request, there is also a day trip with 2 diving excursions and a meal in a Canarian tapas bar.

The collection from your accomodation within Playa de las Americas is Included in the price, non divers are naturally transportrd free of charge, as long as there is enough space available in the bus.
